2020 will forever be the Year of Lockdown, the year our holiday plans were cancelled or put on hold, and nothing got ticked off our travel bucket lists. Nevertheless, we must look forward to a time when travel restrictions will be lifted, and travel to all the amazing places the world has to offer will once again be possible.

Slovenia

According to Condé Nast Traveller, Slovenia is the number one up-and-coming destination for 2021. Why should you travel there? Well, firstly it is nestled between Croatia and Italy, and the scenery lives up to the standard set by its beautiful neighbours. Secondly, after being named the European Region of Gastronomy for 2021, it is the perfect place for foodie lovers to visit. Need we say more?

Finland

In recent years the Finnish Government has heavily invested in arts and culture, making Helsinki the perfect place for your next city break. Make sure you check out Amos Rex, the newest art museum, plus the Finnish National Gallery. There are also a number of outdoor events and pop up museums planned during the warmer months.

If you really want to shake off the lockdown shackles, then a Caribbean paradise will offer you the perfect change of scenery. There are a whole host of eco-friendly options, which will allow you access to miles of glorious beaches, wellness retreats, beautiful lagoons and humpback whale-watching (that’s got to be worth at least a few ticks on the travel bucket list, right?).

If there’s one positive we can take from the UK closing its borders, it’s that it made us realise just how many amazing places are on offer right on our doorstep for the perfect staycation. Why spend time trekking through passport control and waiting for luggage when you could hop in your car or on a train, and reach any number of incredible destinations within a couple of hours? We can’t list them all, so start researching now!

An oldie, but a goodie. Spain is consistently one of the most popular tourist destinations for a reason.
